Michelle A. Perkins

With great sorrow, the Perkins and Tanner families announce the passing of Michelle A. Perkins (59). She was a brave, caring, and energetic wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, who fought hard in her battle with Pancreatic Cancer that came to an end on May 15, 2023. Michelle was born January 27th, 1964 to Paul and Edna Tanner and grew up in Lanesville, Indiana with her three siblings. She was a graduate of Lanesville High School where she was a spirited competitor in basketball, softball, and volleyball. She graduated with a business degree from Indiana University Southeast. Michelle worked in both the Human Resources and Purchasing departments of Amatrol, Inc. where she was known for her hard work and attention to detail. Michelle was an avid adventurer and enjoyed all kinds of athletic activities with her family. She was the first one to volunteer to help with her daughters’ athletic and school activities. Michelle would also volunteer for charitable events like Relay for Life, Susan G. Komen, and other fundraising runs. She found great joy in encouraging others’ athletic endeavors. Michelle’s goal was to travel to run a race in each state. She competed in races of various lengths in 42 states including a series of six races in six states in six consecutive days spread over 1500 miles of driving. Michelle was preceded in death by her father, Paul Tanner; sister, Jill Tanner Lett, and brother, PJ Tanner. She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Todd Perkins; daughters Maria and Katherine; her mother, Edna Tanner, and sister, Dana Tanner; as well as several nieces and nephews. There will only be a private service for the family per Michelle’s request. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, an organization that the Perkins and Tanners felt strongly about.
