Michael Matthew Strange

Michael Matthew Strange,age 68, left this world on Friday, February 8, 2013, with sobriety and dignity, and in the hands of his Higher Power. He was born October 7, 1944 in New Albany, IN to Dr. Martin B. and Mary Patricia Gardner Strange. A 1962 graduate of Our Lady of Providence High School, Clarksville, IN, he attended Indiana University Southeast and Indiana University at Bloomington. He was a proud veteran of the military (1963-1967), having served in Vietnam (1965-1966) as a Navy medical corpsman assigned to the U.S. Marine Corps.

Following this, Mike completed a 50-year career in sales. He was also a 28-year member of Alcoholics Anonymous. Mike was preceded in death by his son, David Andrew Strange, as well as his parents and sister, Harriet Strange Chalfant.

He is survived by a son, Raymond Thaddeus Strange (New Albany); granddaughter, Rhiannon G. Strange (New Albany); three siblings, Brian (London, UK), Carney (Bowling Green, OH) and Mary Ellen (Lake Wales, FL); 9 nieces and nephews and 7 great-nieces and nephews.

Reception of Family and Friends will be held from 4:00 pm ~ 7:00 pm Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, IN. His Funeral and Remembrance Service will be held at 7:00 pm Wednesday in the Kraft Spring Street Chapel. Cremation will follow.
