Michael Lee Maples, age 76, of New Albany, Indiana passed away on Monday, June 5, 2023, at Baptist Health Floyd surrounded by his loving family. Michael was born in Louisville, Kentucky on July 11, 1946, to the late Robert Luther Maples, Sr. and Laura Wright Maples. He was retired from Jeffboat Shipyard and a member of the Sunny Side Assembly of God. Mike was a dedicated member of the Sons of the American Legion, 40 & 8 voiture club and VFW Post 1693 Hobart Beach Post. Michael was a 20-year member of the VFW Post 1693 Honor Guard.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Robert Luther Maples Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Darlene Baird Maples; four children, Melissa (James) Whitten, Mariea (David) Ridenour, Michele (Lee) Whitten and Elizabeth (Kenneth) Sippel; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and two nephews.
Visitation will be from 12-7 on Sunday, June 11, 2023, and from 9-11 on Monday, June 12, 2023, at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana 47150.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Monday, June 12, 2023, at the funeral home with entombment to follow in Kraft Graceland Memorial Park.
