Funeral services for Mary Virginia Tate Van Winkle, 72, of Sellersburg, will be at 11 a.m.. Monday, July 23, at Kraft Funeral Service, Charlestown Road Chapel, New Albany, with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. She died Friday, July 20, 2012, at her residence with her family by her side.
She was born Aug. 5, 1939 in Mountain Grove, Mo. to the late Jesse and Alice Marie Taylor Tate. She was formerly a clerk with Ivy Tech Community College in Sellersburg until her retirement and was a member of Jacobs Chapel United Methodist Church and past Guardian of Bethel 73 Jobs Daughters. She loved her family, lighthouses, and traveling. She will be greatly missed by all her family and many friends.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Philip W. Van Winkle; three daughters, Cathleen Graf and her husband, Rick, of Memphis, Sheryl Francis and her husband, Bryan, of Georgetown, and Dori Fackelman and her husband, David, of Michigan; seven grandchildren, Christina Mullins, Erin Myers, Michael Francis, Elli, Devinne, and Tristan Fackelman, and Teddy Graf; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Thelma Weber, of Arizona and Alice Spitz and her husband, Dennis, of Louisville; one brother, Harold Tate, of Lexington, Ky.; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home. Jobs Daughters service 6 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.
