Mary J. was born on March 25, 1913 to the late Edward and Annette (Bocard) Hettiger. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Edward H. Grantz. She is survived by her three sons, Tony Grantz (husband to Carol Grantz), Joe Grantz (husband to the late Nancy Grantz) and John Grantz (husband to Llyn Grantz). Mary J., or “Nana”, was the treasured grandmother to nine grandchildren: Michael Grantz (Kim), Nan Davis (Bob), Angie Koopman (Steve), Kevin Grantz (Jeanette), Melissa Anderson (Monty), J.P. Grantz (Denise), Chuck Grantz (Connie), Dena McCurdy (Jamie) and David Grantz; nineteen great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
Mary J. and her husband, Edward, were founding members of Holy Family Catholic Church in New Albany. She loved God, her family, socializing with friends, playing cards, making quilts, baking cakes and rooting on her beloved Indiana Hoosiers. She was about the biggest IU basketball fan there ever was.
Mary J. touched the lives of so many people over the years with her smile, grace and generosity. Friends and family are invited to attend visitation on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. ~ 8:00 p.m. at Kraft Funeral Home, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 129 West Daisy Lane, New Albany, Indiana.
