Mark Shumate, 59, passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023. Mark was born in Louisville, Kentucky on May 2, 1964 to the late Donald Joseph Shumate and Beverly Rose Shumate. He was a maintenance manager for Campbell's Snacks for over 30 years. Mark is the current president and a founding member of the Kentucky Wrestling Officials Association, within the KHSAA he served as assigning secretary, rules interpreter and head official for the state wrestling tournament. In addition to serving with the KWOA, Mark was on the Board of Directors for KFOA and was on the rules committee for the NHFS. He was an avid University of Louisville fan and worked the chain all of the home football games.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Karen Berry, a brother, Kevin Shumate and a son-in-law, Charles Britt.
Mark is survived by his wife of 29 years, Theresa A. Shumate; children, Jeremy (Amanda) Shumate, Nikki Britt and Emily (Zach Hebert) Shumate; a sister, Sandy (Zeke) Graves; a brother-in-law, Tom (Lynn) Weber; a sisters-in-law, Sheila Shumate, Kim (Greg) Bauerla and Lynne (Scott) Mayfield; five grandchildren, Justyce, Easton, Grayson, Dallas and Emma; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Mark will be held Monday, September 4, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM and Tuesday, September 5, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana 47150.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at 2:00 PM, at the funeral home with burial to follow in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
