Lori Ann Hallal, 52, of Louisville, KY, formally of Bloomington, IN was born in Indianapolis, IN on February 23, 1965 and passed away on March 10, 2017 at the University of Louisville Hospital. Lori was the eldest daughter of George Hallal, Indianapolis, IN (Originally from Aitanit, Lebanon) and Patricia (Boruff) Hallal of Bloomington, IN.
It was evident early in Lori's life that she was destined to excel in intellect and all her endeavors. Her interests were intriguing and vast. In middle school she discovered the flute and her penchant for music and the arts was born. After graduating, with honors, from Bloomington High School South (as a junior) she spent an adventurous year as an exchange student traveling and studying at a private school in France. She became fluent in the language and culture just weeks after arriving. While in France she passed her "bac blanc" exam which is the equivalent of an associate degree. Lori received her Bachelor of Arts and Science and a Masters in Public Administration at Indiana University. Her career in city management has taken her to CO, SD, TX, OH, and most recently as a Fiscal Administrator at Louisville Metro Government. She was involved with numerous social and business groups and organizations and usually found herself leading the charge. Being quite the social butterfly, she enjoyed all things involving people. Lori was accomplished in puzzle solving of all kinds, the fabric arts, gourmet cooking and sharing with friends. She was a gifted writer and could convey her thoughts well when pen met paper. Being a perfectionist, she always found a more efficient means to an end and she wasn't shy in letting you know how to accomplish the desired result. She participated in Civil War reenactments and Native American events, living as they lived and immersing herself, once again with cultures she adored.
As an avid and skilled motorcyclist and longtime member of ABATE, she spent her free time on her Harley Davidson, exploring her passion for riding and roaming free on the open roads. It was at the end of a day of riding that she was in an accident that resulted in her death. Her final act of kindness and blessing to others was as an organ donor.
Lori is survived by her parents, sister, Monica (Hallal) Mitchell, her only niece Maureen "Mo", and four nephews, Abraham, Maxwell, Jack and Jesse Mitchell, all of Bloomington, IN. Her sister, Consuela Hallal survives and uncles and aunts , Nadim (Carole) Hallal, Zakeyeh (Hallal) Normann, Dr. Eli (Susan) Hallal, Faris Hallal, Henriette Hallal and many cousins and companion, Hondo Hufford.
Lori was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Rizkallah and Evalin Hallal, uncles Jowdat Hallal and Herb Normann, maternal grandparents, Jesse and Mildred Boruff and uncles James (Lois) Boruff and John Boruff.
