Linda Sue (Garvin) Banet, 76, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana passed away on April 17, 2025 in the comfort of her home. Linda was born to the late William E. and Anola J. (James) Garvin in New Albany, Indiana on December 13, 1948. She was a faithful member of St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church. She graduated from New Albany High School in 1966. She married her sweetheart and soulmate, Herman ‘Sammy’ Banet in 1972. Through their holy matrimony, they were gifted from God one daughter, Jodi, and one son, Brad.
Linda spent her professional career working at the U.S. Census Bureau. She retired in 2006 after 40 years of service. She was dedicated and committed to her work, but her love and devotion for her husband, children, grandchildren, family and friends were unmatched. She was a pillar of stability, always ready to lend a helping hand. Her radiant smile lit up every room she entered, spreading warmth and laughter wherever she went. Linda, an avid music and dance enthusiast, was always the first to hit the dance floor. Music had been an integral part of her life since childhood. You could always hear her music playing during the countless summer days spent by the pool with her family. Even in her later years, music therapy provided her with a respite from her condition, allowing her to relish the joy of listening and occasionally joining in by singing. However, nothing brought her more happiness than hearing her children and grandchildren visit her.
Linda embodied the ideal wife, mother, and Memaw, cherished by all who knew her. Her life was a testament to the joy and love she brought to everyone around her.
As Linda has now transitioned to the afterlife and is enjoying the comfort of God’s Eternal Kingdom, she is reunited with Sammy and all those passed before her at the pearly gates. The ones left to cherish her memory are her children; daughter Jodi Robinson (Jason), son Brad Banet (Carolyn), grandchildren; Jase, Jax, Eli, Grace and Sierra, sisters, brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews and countless friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Sammy, parents, mother and father-in-law Herman and Grace Banet, Rebecca ‘Becky’ Smith, Doloris and Melvin Englemen, Ralph Lilly Sr., Bea and Fiddle Fife, Kate and Junie Fritz, Stuart Fife, Jeffrey Schmidt, Kenny Englemen, and Ralph Lilly Jr.
