We knew Larry many years ago; met at Jim Gaither's art studio on Silver Street in New Albany. He was always one of the most interesting people and a gentle person. I (Linda) talked with him when Jim passed away and he regreted not being to make it back here for the party. From readint the messages, it seems he had many friends and a large loving extended family.
Now we have something new to look into: RE Hupa.  Condolences to Connie and all family and friends.

In our many email correspondences and newsgroup interactions re: Robert E. Howard and his work, Larry's insights and innovative perspectives were always able to both amaze with their unique eloquence and encourage new avenues of thought. A friend and a scholar, he is missed.

I met you through REHupa and will always remember your great insights into his work. I will also remember that you became my friend. Rest well.

The Larry I knew through REHupa was feisty, strong-willed and dedicated. The Larry who invited me into his home was gracious and entertaining - a true throwback to better times. I spent several hours discussing the world with him and gaining a much better understanding of how he processed the world around him. Our correspondence was mostly related to our shared interest in Robert E. Howard and REHupa but I am glad I had even that opportunity to know him. I mentioned Larry just two days ago in a conversation with some mutual friends - I am very sad to hear this. To his family: the Grubers extend their heartfelt sympathy for your loss. I am glad I knew you, Larry.

Larry was a buddy in REHupa. I can still remember him contacting me to join. Then he would call me up where we would have long conversations. There was no one like Larry. The world is less bright with him no longer with us.

I only had the pleasure of meeting Larry once and it gave me a chance to thank him for all the thought provoking writing he did that I enjoyed in REHupa and online. Rest in peace, my friend.

Although I never had the opportunity to meet Larry in person I always enjoyed our interactions online and in REHupa. He will be greatly missed. My sincerest condolences to his friends and family.

Larry was a kind and generous person who was willing to do anything for a friend. The world is a poorer place without him in it.

Larry was an intriguing man. He called me once a few years ago and we talked for an hour about the "old" times. I only knew Larry through our email correspondence and association through the Robert E. Howard Amateur Press Association, for which he wrote articles, but after that chat, I felt I had known him all my life. What a great guy.

Fiercely smart, kind, and truly unique. He will be missed by his friends and family. Rest in Peace, Larry.

Larry, I fondly remember our summers together in Wisconsin.  You were much older than I and had a vocabulary 100 times bigger than mine. But I tried to understand because I looked up to you.  

Its too bad we haven't spent much time together, over the years.  I think I would have loved to have spent more time with you. So many miles separated us.

I never got to meet Larry. Living several thousand miles apart from each other, it was not easy. What I do remember are his intensely thought-provoking emails on the old Robert E. Howard list. Thought provoking, all of them. I am really sad we never got to meet. Farewell, my friend.

One of the most interesting and pleasant people I've had the good fortune to meet in my many days of Robert E. Howard fandom. We crossed paths a Pulpcon years back.

A few years later, I was fortunate enough to stumble upon an extra copy of a Roy Krenkel art book. Knowing that Larry was a fan, I sent it to him along with a few extra fanzines that had Krenkel sketches. Larry's very genuine surprise and gratitude that someone was thinking of him was more than a fair return.

While I know that no one can be feeling the loss as deeply as his family, please know that he was loved and respected, and is now missed, by the many other people his humor and intellect touched.

I never met Larry in person. However, he was a powerful and respected presence on the Robert E. Howard Forum when I first joined in 2005. He seemed like a really great guy. I was hoping that he would one day return to REH fandom. My sincerest condolences.

Larry was a wonderful human being and a terrific friend. We had many fascinating conversations on the phone (he did most of the talking, usually), and he did me many services. He was a far better writer than he ever gave himself credit for, and had a really playful and inventive mind. He leaves a world full of friends in whose memories he will continue to be a living presence.

I'm so sorry to hear about Larry. I knew him through REHupa. He was an intelligent and fun writer and I still miss his fanzines. There was so much information in each one of them that I had to read it and respond line by line. I missed him when he left REHupa. Larry was the type of person you could sit on the front porch with and discuss anything and everything under the sun. A rare quality--he was one of a kind and will be missed.

I have such fond memories of time spent with Larry, both in person but mainly on the phone. He would call pretty regularly and we would chat about common interests (mainly Robert E. Howard). I was always amazed at the depth of his knowledge on so many things; analytical and erudite observations - I was always out of my league in trying to keep up with him. Cheryl and I are saddened at his passing and extend our condolences to his entire family. Rest in Peace, amigo!
