Kevin Kelly Kramer died on June 26 at age 79. Loving mother to Elizabeth Ann Kramer (James Andrew Kelly) and Melissa Kramer Plaiss (George Michael Plaiss) and Kebbie to her grandson, George Anderson Plaiss, and granddaughter, Charlotte Rose Plaiss, Kevin was born in 1941 to Melissa Moore Kelly. She grew up in New Albany, graduated from Providence High School and later Nazareth College (now Spalding University). She taught elementary school until the birth of her first daughter.
Kevin was a creative soul who loved to sing — from her grade school years with "Too-Ra-Loo-Ra-Loo-Ral (That's an Irish Lullaby)" to popular show tunes sometimes to her daughters’ delight or mortification (depending on their ages). She enlisted her love of fashion into a career as proprietor of Mandy’s, a New Albany women’s clothing store; a representative of Utah Tailoring Mills, selling custom clothing to private clientele; and sales consultant in the designer section of Jacobson’s department store before retiring.
She imparted her love of creativity to her daughters and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother and cousins Martin Hailey and his wife, Yvonne, of Jeffersonville; Nancy Anne Weber of San Marino, CA; and Julia Gatterer of Covington, KY.
Her funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 2, 2021 at St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, 415 E. 8th St., New Albany, IN. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m., Thursday, July 1, 2021 at Kraft Funeral Home, 708 E. Spring Street with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m.
The family asks memorial gifts be made in Kevin’s name to Hosparus Health.
