Kermit G. Smith

Kermit G. Smith, 95 years of age died Sunday January 26th. He was born August 28, 1924 in Harrison County, Indiana to the late Elmer J. and Vida (Martin) Smith and was a retired employee of Riverside Recycling Company in New Albany. Kermit was a U.S. Marine Corp Veteran of World War II and a member of Gardiner Lane Church of Christ. Kermit was the widower of Martha J. (Anderson) Smith who died in 1991 after 45 years of marriage, and widower of Norma L. (Owens) Smith who died in 2016 after 20 years of marriage. He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, and three siblings; Quintin Smith, Lowell Smith, and Marie Hedges. Surviving: Three children, Craig Smith (Linda), Mark Smith (Lisa) and Dianne Corbin; a step son, Michael Wooldridge (Gena), a sister-in-law, Gloria Smith; seven grandchildren; two step grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm Thursday January 30, 2020, and after 10:00 am Friday, January 31, 2020 at Kraft Funeral Service 708 E. Spring St. in New Albany. His Funeral Service with military honors will be held at 2:00 pm Friday January 31st, with burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
