Karen K. Lind, 77 years of age passed on January 28, 2021 in Sellersburg, Indiana. She was born on February 3, 1943 in Galesburg, Illinois to the late Paul and Marian Kalbfleisch. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Concordia College, Master’s Degree from Indiana University, and her Doctoral Degree from the University of Louisville. Karen began her teaching career at the old East Spring Street Elementary School in New Albany and was a professor at both Hanover College and University of Louisville. She was the former director of Center for Math, Science, and Technology at Illinois State University, a program officer for the National Science Foundation, and former board of directors with National Science Teachers Association. Karen was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in New Albany and a past president of Tri Kappa Sorority. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Lind; father-in-law, Roy Lind; mother-in-law, Orvella Lind; brothers-in-law, Jan Gierman, Don Lind and Charles Lind; nephew, Donnie Lind; cousin, Ken Kalbfleisch; uncle, Bob Anglund.
She is survived by her dearest friend who was more like a daughter, Cindy Shelton (Dee); sister, Pamela Kalbfleisch; sisters-in-law, Sharon Walker (Ted), Deloris Lind, Roberta Lind, Aunt, Joan Walsh Anglund; numerous nieces and nephews, and many beloved friends and colleagues.
Visitation will be 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm Wednesday at Grace Lutheran Church, 1787 Klerner Lane, New Albany, Indiana. Her funeral service will be held 1:30 pm Wednesday at church with burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, Indiana. The service will be streamed live on the church website www.glcna.com
