Joseph Edward Waiz

JOSEPH EDWARD WAIZ, 88, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2016. The son of the late Joseph A. and Lena Schindler Waiz, Joe was born March 18, 1928 in Sellersburg. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and owned and operated Waiz Appliance Repair for over 30 years. Joe was a life member of American Legion Post 204. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Isabel Stromire Waiz; and siblings, Marie, Dolores, Rita, Charles, Lucille, Herbert, Eugene, and Robert.

Survivors include his four daughters, Margaret Ray (James “Bud”), Karen Payne (James), Nancy Holiday (Steve), and Melissa Hayes (Don); brother, William “Bill” Waiz; nine grandchildren, Brian Leach, Sarah Ray, Jennifer, Julie and Jessica Payne, Christina and Jeff Holiday, and Matthew and Michael Hayes; and close friends, Bea Lee and Lynn Rhoads.

Visitation will be 12 pm to 6 pm Sunday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. His Funeral Service will be 10:00 am Monday in the St. Joe Hill Chapel of St. John Paul II Catholic Church with burial and military honors in St. Joe Hill Catholic Cemetery, Sellersburg, Indiana.
