James Robert Ward, 87 years of age died Saturday, October 31, 2015 at the VA Medical Center in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born August 4, 1928 in Central City, Kentucky to the late James Edmond and Ada Lillian (Short) Ward. Jim was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II and a member of First Baptist Church in Jeffersonville. He received a bachelor degree from the University of Kentucky and a masters degree from Purdue University. Jim was a retired teacher from New Albany High School and Prosser. He owned and operated Ward Landscape Company, was an avid fisherman and hunter, and loved to sing. Jim was preceded in death by his grandson, Chad Arnett.
Survivors include his wife, Anita Friess; daughter, Patricia Kruer (Michael); granddaughter, Dawn Gibson; great granddaughter, Amanda Gibson; daughter, Regina Weathers (William); granddaughter, Kimberly Hawkins; great grandson, Dee Rutherford; grandson, Roger Hawkins.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday and 11:00 am to 2:00 pm Wednesday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. His Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home chapel with burial at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, Indiana.
