Jerry L. Banet, 79 years of age, died Monday, January 17, 2011 at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany. The son of the late Raymond and Flora (Sprigler) Banet, Jerry was born December 23, 1931 in Floyd County, Indiana. He was a retired truck driver for Advance Transportation Co. and a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a member of the High Caliber Sports Club and St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church. Jerry was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Missy Meyers Banet.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Joan Seng Banet; children, Douglas W. Banet of New Albany, Gregory A. Banet (Patti) of Floyds Knobs, Dennis K. Banet & friend Lesa Smith of NewAlbany, Gerald R. Banet & friend Theresa Hazel of Floyds Knobs, Brian P. Banet of Louisville, Maribeth Bradley of Louisville; siblings Loretta Atkins of Floyds Knobs, Raymond “Junie” Banet (Evelyn) of Floyds Knobs, Edmund “Joe” Banet (Sandy) of Henryville, Frank Banet (Frances) of Floyds Knobs, Venita Lynch (Jim) of Jeffersonville, David Banet (Ann) of Floyds Knobs; six grandchildren, Dustan, Daryl, Craig, Jordan, Tierney and Joey
Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm ~ 8:00 pm Thursday, January 20, 2011 at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany. His Funeral Mass will be 11:00 am Friday, January 21, 2011 at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church with Full Military Honors. Private entombment will be in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park Chapel of the Cross Mauseleum in New Albany. A prayer service will be held 4:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
