Louisville, Kentucky.
He was born May 23, 1944 in Kenvir, Kentucky. He grew up in New Albany, Indiana and
graduated from New Albany High School in 1962 where he was a member of the golf team.
He was retired from an Army Ammunition plant in Sellersburg, Indiana where he worked as a
printer where he worked there for over 30 years.
Jay was a real character and love to joke and play jokes on others. He had nicknames for all the
family members. He loved playing golf and at one time was a member of Valley View Golf
Course in New Albany. He loved playing cards and at times carried a deck with him. He loved
sports and was a Cleveland Browns fan since he was 11 years old.
Jay was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was loved by many and
will be missed immensely by all those that loved him.
Jay was preceded in death by his wife of 27 years, Georgia; his parents, Ulis and Octavia Emmett;
a brother, Jack Emmett; a sister, Kathleen Wood; step son, Mark Jones and nephew Mike
Greeenwell.
He is survived by his twin sister, Jeanette Lewis (Stuart) Lewis; step daughter, Semella Jones; nephew, Stuart Lewis Jr.; great niece, Danielle Burkheardt; and a great great niece, Seattle Greenwell.
He did not want a funeral and cremation will take place at Kraft Funeral Service in New Albany
Indiana where he will be laid to rest with other loved ones.
Jay was an avid animal lover and in lieu of flowers contributions can be made to your local
Humane Society.
