Janice K. Smith Burton

Janice K. Burton, 77 years of age died Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at her home. She was born July 26, 1939 in New Albany, Indiana to the late Chyrel T. and Dorothy Mae (Hughes) Smith. She retired from the old M. Fine and Sons’ in New Albany and was a member of VFW Hobart Beach Post #1693, American Legion Bonnie Slone Post #28, and the 40 & 8 where she formerly served as President of the Ladies Auxiliary. Along with her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her son, Paul Young, Jr.; husbands, Russell T. Burton and Horace M. Smith; brother, Charles Smith; and sister, Sandra Sue Denhard.

Survivors include her children, Betty Jo Waters, Paula Metcalf (Gary), Tommy Smith; daughter-in-law, Freda Young; 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, and her dog, Sugar.

Memorial Visitation will be 10:00 am to 12:00 pm Monday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. A Memorial Service will be held 12:00 pm Monday at Kraft Chapel. Her ashes will be buried at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, Indiana.
