George Larry Wheeler,78 of New Albany, Indiana passed away November 12, 2021. Larry was born in Seymour, Indiana and was the loving son of Lula Mae. He graduated from Seymour High School and was retired from Beach Mold & Tool. He was an active member of St. John's Presbyterian Church having served as an elder and deacon. He volunteered at St. Marks Soup Kitchen and helped deliver pet food donations to St. Paul's pet food pantry.
He was always physically fit: weightlifting, walking and was a past member of the Southern Indiana Wheelman. Until Covid, he was an active member of the YMCA.
His family always teased him because he never met a stranger and thought everyone he met was nice. That was probably because he was such a kind and nice man.
He had a special place in his heart for animals and will be missed by his latest rescue dog, Sparky.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jo Anne; two daughters, Amy Biggs (Doug) and Mandy Jones (Brad); grandchildren, Lydia Biggs (Katelyn), Fischer Biggs, Dylan Slucher and Landan Jones and a sister-in-law, Francie Knable. He discovered later in life that he had six brothers and one sister. He was especially close to his brother in Colorado, Richard Reed (Deanna).
