Gary Wayne Robertson

Gary Wayne Robertson passed away at his home Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at the age of 77 with his son by his side. He was born on April 15, 1946, in Austin, IN, and raised in Charlestown, Indiana by his mom and dad, Ivan and Thelma Hattabaugh. Gary graduated from Charlestown High School class of 1965. He worked at General Electric and took an early retirement in 2001 after 35 years of service. He enjoyed collecting and selling antiques, repairing wicker furniture, going to yard sales, and fixing up bicycles for the neighborhood kids. He was a Kentucky Colonel, a Mason, and a member of the Parkland Lodge #638. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite and a supporter of the Eastern Star. Gary volunteered at the Tri-County Shrine Club several days a week. You could often see him selling pull tabs or checking bingo numbers. He loved being a part of the action! You could also find him hanging out at one of his grandsons’ ball games. He loved watching them compete. Gary was always in a great mood smiling, joking, laughing, and flirting! He never met a stranger and was loved by all! Gary leaves behind his son Daniel Robertson (Brenda), daughter Rebecca Jo Robertson, stepson Robert Brock, and his three grandsons Tristan, Sebastian, and Bodhi Robertson. He also leaves behind two sisters, Sandra Wray and Betty (Bill) Anderson; nieces and nephews; and numerous friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thelma and Ivan Hattabaugh, and Brother Ronnie Hattabaugh. Services will be held at Kraft Funeral Home, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana on Monday, September 4, 2023, from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm and Tuesday, September 5, 2023, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am with funeral services beginning at 11:00 am.
