ERNEST C. HARMON, 74 years of age, died Sunday, December 25, 2011 at the residence of his daughter in Floyds Knobs with his family at his side. He was born January 22, 1937 in Lebanon, Kentucky to the late Clifford and Mable Houston Harmon and was the widower of Faye L. Rouse Harmon who died in 2009. Ernest was a Hazardous Transport Driver for Ashland Oil Co. for 37 years until his retirement in 1993 and received the Two Million Mile Award for his transport and safety record throughout his many years of service. He also enjoyed farming and was a member of the F. & A. M. for many years. He was also preceded in death by a daughter Marty Harmon.
Survivors include his five daughters: Debra Underwood (Henry) of Campbellsville KY, Gail Williams (Terry) of Corydon IN, Stacy Bays (Greg) of Georgetown IN, Rhody Schneider (Jim) of Lanesville IN and Tressea Harvey (Herb) of Floyds Knobs IN;
ten grandchildren: Amanda, Jill, Cliff, Jason, Hannah, Emma, Ryan, Nathan, Josh and Cameron; four great-grandchildren: Jaylin, Baker, Landon and Carson; two sisters: Velma Lowman (Mark) of Michigan and Mildred Barnett of Campbellsville KY; and one brother, Terry Harmon of Lexington KY.
Visitation will be from 12:00 noon ~ 8:00 pm Wednesday and after 10:00 am Thursday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. His Funeral Service will be held 12:00 pm Thursday at the Kraft Charlestown Road Chapel with burial to follow at Wolfe Cemetery in Georgetown, Indiana.
