Elliott V. Phillips, 88, died Saturday, December 5, 2020. He was born July 28, 1932 in St. Louis, Missouri to his late parents, Mack Phillips and Marguerite Wentzell. A graduate of Indiana University, Elliott loved his alma mater and played on IU’s golf team. He won numerous Falls Cities tournaments, played in the U.S. Open as an amateur, and was the proud owner of Hidden Creek Golf Club. Some of his fondest memories were of playing golf with his friends and business associates. He was a long-time real estate developer in Southern Indiana and was very involved in thoroughbreds. His true passion, however, was providing for his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Sue Dent Phillips, and his grandson, Michael Seaton.
Survivors include his children, Johnny Phillips and Suzanne Seaton (Mike); sister, Mindy Phillips; granddaughters, Ashley Seaton Houin (Brent) and Charlotte Seaton Bird (Ben); and great-grandchildren, Miles Elliott Houin, Henry Louis Houin, and Anna Grace Houin.
Visitation will be 12 pm – 3 pm Thursday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany. All services will be private. He will be interred in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany.
