DOROTHY "DOTTIE" (DUFFY) WEBER, 86, died Monday, June 10, 2013 at her home in the care of her family, her aide, Becky, and Hosparus of Southern Indiana. She was born January 10, 1927 to Joseph and Ora Duffy.
She began her career at the Corps of Engineers in 1945 and retired from the U.S. Census Bureau in Jeffersonville in 1989. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, the Holy Trinity Class of 1941 and the New Albany High School Class of 1945. She gained her BA in General Studies from Indiana University Southeast in 1984. Dottie was an active member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority from 1950 to the present, serving in multiple positions during her 62 year membership. She was a member of the Alpha Eta Master Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi and was honored to be a part of a group of such close and loving women. She was a member of the New Albany Chapter of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and served in multiple positions within the chapter until her recent illness. Dottie was a lifelong member of the Daughters of Isabella.
Survivors include daughters, Deborah J. Weber (Kelvin Kuhlman), Theresa A. Weber (Chester Mills) and Jackie W. Sullivan (Steve); and grandchildren, Abigail Sullivan Shouse (Barry), Glenn Sullivan (Chandra) and Alan Sullivan (Heather Clapp). She was awaiting the arrival of her first great grandson, Carsen Alexander Sullivan in September. She is also survived by two nieces and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years who later became her companion, Jack Nall Weber; her parents; an infant son, Richard Joseph; her sisters, Kathryn Phelps and Margaret Wolf; and a brother, Vincent “Buck” Duffy.
Visitation will be 1:00 pm ~ 8:00 pm Wednesday at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana. There will be a Rosary Service at 7:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Her Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Thursday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with burial to follow at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery, New Albany.
