David Anthony Hackel, 73, died Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at his home with his family by his side. He was born January 20, 1942 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Raymond and Florence (Brack) Hackel. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Robert and sister, Betty. He was a graduate of St. X High School and Bellarmine University, a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of the Charlestown American Legion Post, and a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. He was a ping pong champion and led the WWII roundtable at the Clarksville Library. He enjoyed his work at the powder plant and as a partner in Indiana Ordnace Works, church picnics, WWII history and memorabilia, and especially his loving wife, children, and grandchildren that he loved dearly.

Visitation will be from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm Sunday and after 11:00 am Monday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. His Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm Monday in the funeral home chapel. He will be laid to rest at a later date at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, Indiana.
