Darlene Koopman

Darlene Koopman, 83 years of age passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at her home. She was born May 12, 1935 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Louis and Mary (Glover) Kaestner. Darlene was a 1953 graduate of New Albany High School and longtime member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where she was a member of the Ladies Club. She was a talented seamstress, formerly active in the 4-H Club and longtime member of the Starlight Bunco Group. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Donald Kaestner, James Kaestner; and sister, Mary Lou Stumler. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Lawrence Koopman; children, Peter Koopman (Peggy), Rebecca Koopman (Bob Adams), Ron Koopman (Melinda), Kathy Hash, Mary Kraha (Tony); sisters, Carol Ralph (Richard), Judy Schleicher (Steve); brother-in-law, Vincent Stumler; sisters-in-law, Linda Kaestner, Adelia Kaestner; grandchildren, Emily Broderick, Amy Niemeier, Melanie Clemmer, Eric Koopman, Ashley Blackburn, Roxanne Koopman, Amanda Smith, Rebecca Koopman; 18 great grandchildren Visitation will be 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm Tuesday at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana. Her Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Wednesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 8310 St. John Road, Floyds Knobs, Indiana with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
