He was a native of McLeansboro, IL and an Army veteran of World War II, having served in the invasion of Okinawa. He retired in 1986 as vice president and general manager of Kentucky Paper and Box in Louisville and was a member of St. Mark's United Church of Christ in New Albany.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, the former LaVerda Riemeier; children, Michael D. Mayberry (Kathi), Manchester, MO, Jackie L. Nadorff (Bruce), Louisville and Charles E. Mayberry Jr., Floyds Knobs, IN; sister, Juanita Boughton , St. Paul, MN; five grandchildren, Erin Lake (Josh), Janna Grier (Jason), Kyle Mayberry, Will and Ellie Mayberry; and seven great-grandchildren, Joe, Caden, Natalie, Wyatt, Lucy, Riese and Carter .
Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. Wednesday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany. His funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at the Kraft Funeral Chapel with private entombment in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
