JANUARY 15, 1925 – JULY 27, 2014
Following a lengthy illness, it is with sadness that we announce the death of William Haiko on July 27, 2014 at the age of 89 and a half, in Winnipeg.
William is survived by his wife of 66 years, Adelaide; his sons Gary (Maryanne) and Robert (Joyce); his grandchildren Matthew, Kevin (Candace), Brett, Stephen (Fabio), Jonathan and Sarah; his great-grandchildren Natalie and Katelyn; his brother Joe; and his sisters Verna and Mary.
Bill was born in Saskatchewan in 1925. At age 16, he moved to Winnipeg.
In 1945 he began working for Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America until his retirement. Due to his tireless efforts for the labor movement, he was awarded the Order of Buffalo.
Bill loved his family dearly, especially his two great-granddaughters Natalie and Katelyn and he loved his time at the cottage in Falcon Lake.
Service will be at Green Acres Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 5, 10:00am, Highway #1 East at Navin Road.
