Proverbs 31:26-28 "She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her".
Peacefully, on Sunday, February 7, 2021, our beloved Mom/Beppe passed away to be with her Lord, at the Kildonan Personal Care Home at the age of 103.
Tina was born October 17, 1917 in Rinsumageest, Friesland, The Netherlands, to Lieuwe & Tjitske VanderBij. She married Jan, a widower with 3 small children on September 12, 1946. They immigrated to Canada in 1948 and resided in Winnipeg, Thunder Bay, and Chicago. Mom and Dad enjoyed a long, healthy retirement in Winnipeg, taking many trips by motor home throughout the U.S. and traveling between Winnipeg and Chicago to visit children and grandchildren whom they loved dearly and delighted in.
Mom is survived by her eight children, John (Linda), Winnipeg, Teena, Hamilton, Annie Venema, Leo (Carla), Thea (Sandy) Siepman, all of Winnipeg and George (Gail), Harold (Marge) and Peter (Bev) of Chicago; 36 grandchildren, 76 great grandchildren and 17 great great grandchildren and numerous relatives in Thunder Bay and in the Netherlands. Mom was predeceased by her loving husband, Jan in 2005 of 58 years, 2 daughter in laws, and 2 granddaughters. She was the last remaining sibling on both sides of the family.
Mom was a lifelong faithful member of the Christian Reformed Church and later became a member of the Providence UR Church. Mom strived her whole life to live a life of Christian service and she exemplified this to her family, friends and also in the last three years to the staff at the Kildonan PCH. She was a sweet, personable lady who was appreciative of everything that was done for her. In her earlier years, she loved life and was a social butterfly reveling in relationships and getting together at her condo with friends for a hymn sing.
Due to Covid restrictions there will be a private family service and interment on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. You are invited to join us virtually by accesing the Livestream link on Tina’s obituary at www.greenacresfuneralhome.com. A celebration of Tina's life will be held at a later date.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Kildonan PCH not only for their excellent care of mom but the tireless efforts they have shown to keep the Home covid free.
