It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather on July 28th at Kin Place Personal Care Home in Oakbank, Manitoba. Ray has resided there for the past 3 ½ years. Prior to that he lived in Anola, Manitoba.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Shirley, children Rick (Simone) and Dawn (Dani), grandchildren Katy (Justin), Darby (Kevin), Tyler (Krystin) and Nicole. Great-grandchildren Selina, Sofia and Summer.
He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
Ray was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Agnes; brothers Ronald (his twin), Archie, George and Robert. Sisters, Eileen, Iris and Rose.
Ray worked in the trucking industry all his life. First as a driver and later as a dispatcher and terminal manager.
Ray was not content to be idle and when retirement loomed he got a job driving a parts truck for DAB Repair. Thank you Dan, you treated Ray with friendship and respect when his illness became apparent.
Ray loved his family deeply and could always be counted on when asked to help out.
A heartfelt thank you to each and every staff member at Kin Place. Your care and kindness to Ray will always be remembered.
Ray will be cremated as per his wishes. A private family interment will be held.
You didn’t die just recently,
You died some time ago.
Although your body stayed awhile,
And didn’t really know.
For you had got Alzheimer’s,
You failed to comprehend.
Your body went on living.
But your mind had reached its end.
So we’ve already said, “Goodbye”,
To the person that we knew,
The person that we truly loved,
The person that was, “You”.

Rest in peace Ray/Dad/Pop
We know you are playing lawn darts on high
