Pauline is predeceased by her husband Marion, mother Pauline Lysak, father Richard M. Barbour, special Aunt Christine, as well as other dear family members.
Pauline was born in Winnipeg on March 3, 1931. Pauline spent most of her life in Winnipeg. She attended Alexandra, Mulvey and Gordon Bell Schools.
Shortly after high school Pauline moved to northern Ontario to work with her mother at Savant Lake. While working at camp, Pauline met Marion. Pauline had a marvelous singing voice; it was this angelic voice and mom’s terrific smile which attracted Marion. They were married in 1955 and started their family. Pauline worked part-time after her children were of school age and continued her education at community college. Pauline was widowed early in her marriage and returned to work in 1967. She had employment at Woolco, Canada Post and also Employment Insurance (CEIC); where she held positions as a trainer facilitator, insurance advisor, auditor and office manager. Pauline was vice president of her union local and worked at EI until her retirement in March of 1991. Mom had an amazing voice and loved to sing and play the piano. She also was an avid bowler, curler and golfer. Pauline loved her garden and grew amazing flowers. She loved to read, sew, and attend Jets, Bomber and Goldeyes games. During her retirement, Pauline kept busy by taking care of her grandchildren and aging relatives, taking piano lessons, travelling, volunteering and attending concerts. She took computer and evening shops courses.
Mom was a charming and gracious woman, with a warm and tender heart. She was witty and loved to laugh. She loved her family dearly and was proud of each of them. Mom always followed the “Golden Rule” and would never cease to help anyone in need. She was always there.
The celebration of life, will be held at Green Acres Funeral Home, 1 Green Acres Lane Hwy. 1 East at Navin Road on Monday, June 23, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Celebrant Vince Anderson officiating. There will be a Private Family Interment at the Holy Angel Mausoleum; with a reception will follow.
The family wishes to extend sincere gratitude to the following: Dr. Margaret Ochonska for her many years of care and dedication; home care; especially Lorraine, Sarah, Ewelina, Jackie, Lenka and the many others who assisted mom with staying in her own home and also to the doctors, nurses and staff at Seven Oaks General Hospital for caring for mom until her passing. Thank you.
