Nick was born in the Stuartburn municipality to Michael Poshtar and Marie Belinski on September 29, 1927.
He was predeceased by his wife Mary, his three brothers, John, Fred, and George Poshtar, and brother-in-law Alex Rogoza.
He is lovingly remembered by his two sisters, Rose Rogoza and Helen Woroniuk (Harold) and sister-in-laws Jean Poshtar and Lena Poshtar. He is also remembered by his step son Allen Cimarno (Doreen) and family.
Nick was a hard-working man and he volunteered for many years for different organizations. He was a long standing member of the St. Demetrius Ukrainian Orthodox Church. He also served as the President of the Gardenton Ukrainian Museum. He enjoyed hunting, picking berries, travelling and spending time with family.
He loved to travel. His travels covered from the west coast to the east coast of Canada. He traveled in many places in the United States including visiting the Grand Ole Oprey. Nick worked for the city of Winnipeg at the Assiniboine Zoo for many years.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff at the Vita Hospital. Also special thanks to Dr. O. Ulanovych.
The funeral service will be held Monday, January 4, 2016 at 10:00 am at Green Acres Funeral Home, Highway 1 East at Navin Road, Winnipeg.
Viewing held hour prior to service. Interment will follow at St. Demetrius Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery.
