JULY 22, 1913 – DECEMBER 23, 2011
It is with sadness we wish to announce the passing of Mildred Marrin.
Mildred was predeceased by her parents; Fredrick J. and Mabel Marie Marrin (nee: Lefebrve), brothers; Fredrick A., Bernard L., Louis Eugene, and Jerome J., and sister Elizabeth Ann (Susie) Allen.
Mildred was a caretaker her entire life. It started as the oldest child caring for her younger brothers and sister. The love she had for people continued during her professional career as a registered nurse and social worker. Mildred was a registered nurse graduating from St. Boniface Hospital of Nursing. She worked ten years for McNulty Clinic before moving to Portland, Oregon where she worked for the Red Cross. After working eighteen months in Portland, she returned to Winnipeg to care for her father. She worked the next twenty years for The Society for Crippled Children. Even after her retirement, she continued to visit some of her “clients”. She cared for her father until his death at age ninety four and she cared for her brothers and sister during their battles with cancer.
Mildred was a kind, considerate and generous person to all she knew. She never complained, always just caring about other people. Mildred had a wonderful sense of humor. She could even laugh at herself. “I can’t see well, I can’t hear well nor breathe well, but, I’m fine, dear.”
Mildred will be lovingly remembered by her nieces, family and friends.
A service of remembrance will be held on December 30, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Ignatius Church, 255 Stafford. A reception is to follow at the Columbus Courts, 253 Edgeland Blvd.
