Peacefully, with her friends Joan Tychonick and Lynda Shapiro by her side, Kathie passed away on Monday, August 11, 2015, at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg at 85 years of age. Kathie was born on December 1, 1929, in Edmonton, AB and spent her early years on a homestead in northern Alberta living in a log cabin. After moving to Winnipeg as a young woman, Kathie pursued several different occupations, the most enjoyable being her time as a Dance Instructor at Arthur Murray Dance Studio. Kathie later followed her passion for writing and wrote three children's safety books while proofreading for Gateway Publishing. She was predeceased by her mother Violet, father Albert, former husband Lylle Fraser and her favorite cat OJ. She was quick witted, a great dancer, a former member of the Transcona Jaycettes and the fastest typist most of us ever knew. She liked to travel to Europe, both on her own and in her capacity with the Jaycettes. A Celebration of LIfe will be held on Monday, August 17, at 10:00 a.m. at Green Acres Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home, Hwy. 12 East at Navin Rd. Interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
