James "Jim" Arthur Schaefer

On November 11, 2020, Jim passed away suddenly at the age of 56.

He is survived by his father Dennis, (Sandra), brother Dave (Katherine), niece Amber and fiancée Jennifer. He was pre-deceased by his mother Elaine.

Born May 21, 1964, Jim grew up in Winnipeg and attended Windsor Park Collegiate. He worked briefly as a realtor but primarily as a Customer Service Representative at Canada Safeway.

Jim was a Certified Brew Master and won the Winnipeg Sun Brew Doctor brewing contest 2 consecutive years then became a judge of that contest. An excellent fly fisherman, Jim earned two Master Angler certificates for Catfish and Small-Mouth Bass. He also constructed and sold fly lures through distributors. Jim constructed and launched high-powered rockets as a member of the Canadian Association of Rocketry. Jim was also an avid skydiver and mentor to students in his youth.

Jim had experiences with unexplained phenomena and believed in the possibilities of extraterrestrial life. His research is documented in several texts. He enjoyed astronomy, fishkeeping, gardening, and cooking and was exceptional at everything he focused on. He loved nature and wildlife and enjoyed spending time at the family cabin.

Jim was spiritual, loving and unique. He loved his family and friends and displayed great faith and morality throughout his life. Forever in our hearts.

A private funeral service will be held on Friday, December 4, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Green Acres Funeral Home, Pastor Bruce Gelhorn officiating. The service will be livestreamed on www.greenacresfuneralhome.com.
