On the evening of Thursday, September 12, 2013, at his home in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Jake Olfert died from heart failure. He was 80 years old. Jake is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Esther, his sisters Mary and Helen, his children Brian and Donna, Rod and Mary, Mark, Colleen and Rod, and by his grandchildren Michael, Zane, and Chad. Born south of Swift Current, Saskatchewan, Jake was known for his love of fishing and the outdoors, his volunteerism and work ethic, and his endearing commitment to family.
A final goodbye and viewing took place at Green Acres Funeral Home, Highway #1 East at Navin Road on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.. The funeral service followed at Green Acres Funeral Home on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Jake was laid to rest in Green Acres Cemetery.
