In the next life, Ethel will be greeted lovingly by her father, Arthur aka Pat, mother Margaret, brothers John, Bud, and Larry, sisters, Carol, Betty, Connie, Rena, and Donna, and daughter-in-law Charlene. She will be escorted through heavens's gates by her husband, Jim, who has been waiting patiently for her.
Ethel is survived and deeply missed by her son Rick (Ann), daughter Kim (Glen), grandchildren Skye (Joe), Indi, James, and Chittchamai, great granddaughter Morgana, brothers Everette and Harry, sister Angie, extended family, guardian angel neighbors John, Jack, and Mike, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Born in St. Elizabeth, Mb, Ethel moved to Winnipeg in her teens. Soon after she found work at J.W. Gage where she also met her knight in shining armour, Jim. From there, Ethel moved on to a long career at Moore Business Forms. There, she worked many different positions and served as both First Aid Attendant and Social Club President. Ethel retired in 1995. Two weeks later, she was called back to work for "just one more job." This trend continued well past her 75th birthday. In addition to continuing at Moore's, Ethel became co-owner of Air of Excitement, with her daughter Kim in 1999.
Ethel was always willing to open her heart and her home to anyone who needed it whether it be short or long term. Ethel’s house was never silent, you could always hear one or more of her four footed friends following her around, wanting her attention.
Ethel and Jim travelled often including camping with their children, road trips to visit family, Grey Cups, bus trips with fellow members of Good Neighbour's Seniors Centre, and cruises with their family. Together, she and Jim enjoyed line dancing, family BBQs, and trips to the casino. Ethel loved the sun and gardened with a passion. On top this, Ethel always had time for a cup of tea, a chat on the phone, a ride in the country, and she always made time for anyone who needed a shoulder to lean on.
A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, May 25th 2016 at 2 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home and Cemetery, Highway 1 East at Navin Road, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society., 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3T 0R3.
