We are sad to announce the passing of Denis Dugas (nee June 29, 1949). Denis is survived by his amazing wife of 50 years, Gisele, daughters Mélanie (Jeff) & Brigitte, granddaughters Morgan & Avery, sister Susanne (Ron), brother Roland (Pam),and countless nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles & cousins. He was met in Heaven by his loving parents Alphonse & Alice Dugas.
Denis was born at St. Boniface Hospital, second child to Alice and Alphonse. He spent his younger years in Lorette, Manitoba. He met his wife Gisele in 1971. Their oldest daughter changed their world in 1973 and after a move to St. Albert, Alberta, they welcomed their second daughter Brigitte in 1978. They returned to their roots in Winnipeg , where Denis had a great career as skilled automatic transmission specialist. His love of curling turned into a passion for coaching where Denis dedicated many hours working with the junior program at St. Vital Curling Club and coaching both his daughters through their teens. Denis loved going on fishing trips and enjoyed kicking back at the lake, or cooking his delicious breakfasts for his family! He then was given the best promotion of all: Pepere. Morgan and Avery were the apple of his eye and his best days were spending time with his “girls.”
After a serious health setback in 2003, Denis overcame many surgeries and obstacles, all while maintaining his positive attitude and admirable strength. His last few years were enjoyed at the new family cabin
Our sincerest thank you to the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff at the St. Boniface hospital, especially those in the dialysis unit, where Denis spent so many hours. A celebration of life took place in lieu of a funeral, which is what he would have wanted. We love you, Pepere. Until we see you again…
