Darlene, was one of the sweetest ladies I have ever known.  To know her was to love her.  At times I think I will call her and then I think oh no I can't.   RIP my friend.  Love Phyllis.

Dar you drove me nuts sometimes but that also gives me smiles. 
I learned I had 2 half sisters when I was about 7 years old and that always meant so much to me as I grew up an only child. We shared our dad and tried to figure out all the secrets our family seemed to keep way back when. 
Some secrets we think we solved and other things we will probably never know. 
You always knew lots of our family history and of our roots in Banff and Round Hill Alberta. Loved the stories. 
Our hearts have grown closer with the passing of time. Through the ups and downs of life, we quickly came to understand what it meant to have each other. 
Sometimes we talked often – sometimes not. It doesn’t seem to matter... the feeling of closeness will forever remain with me. 
The fact that you are no longer here will always cause me pain, but you are forever in my heart.
Until we meet again (you can drive me nuts then too!)

Darlene and I met 70 years ago and have been the best of friends over all these years.  She was like a sister to me and all my children call her Aunt Darlene.  We had so many special times together!  We used to go roller skating, played baseball, golfed and bowled.  My first big adventure was with Darlene when we took a train to San Diego California at 20 years old.  So many precious memories!

Darlene, Bill, Rod and I used to double date; the photo below is the four of us out on one of those dates.  Darlene was a bridesmaid at our wedding and I was her maid of honor, she was with us for all our big celebrations and even celebrated our 60th wedding anniversary with us a few years ago!  We will always treasure the times we got to spend with Darlene and Bill.

I will miss her so much, she will always have a special place in my heart.  Hope she's dancing with Bill again...

I am Darlene’s sister, currently living in Phoenix. Darlene has always been there for me my entire life. We lost our mom when I was only a teen and Dar evolved into a surrogate mum, best friend as well as being a big sister. I have so many memories of her that warm my heart and bring laughter!  Some stories involve camping, tents, and squirrels 🐿, flipping canoes, trips to Grand Forks, enjoying a brew downstairs at Bill’s Bar, shopping, Mexico, Palo Verde historic rail, and many many more. I am a better person because of the positive influence she had in my life. I miss her every day. If I could just call her one more time.......

Our family has so many cherished memories with Aunt Darlene.  She was best friends with my Mom and was like a sister to her so shared so many special family times with us.  She is my godmother and her and Uncle Bill used to come to our place every Christmas Eve when we were growing up.  Every special family occasion we had Aunt Darlene was there.  We will miss her so much.  I wanted to share a picture of my Mom (Joyce Lindsay), her sister Charlotte and Aunt Darlene on Mom's 80th birthday.  So many precious moments we will cherish,

Darlene was always a breath of fresh air and vary supportive of me and my work.  She  had no problem and wanted to get the good news about her products out there for all to hear.  She always was an inspiration when I saw her at Chamber of Commerce and  Networking events My thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time.

I met Darlene at a business event about 10 years ago and  was immediately attracted to her positive attitude and warm personality. Over the years our friendship grew and many hours were spent visiting over delicious meals in various restaurants or over a quiet cup of tea in each others homes. She got to personally know my immediate and extended family ... remembered their names and always asked about them. I am disappointed never to have met her family but i got to know them through our chats.  Our last dinner out was just before the Covid "lock down" was enforced and i am so thankful we were able to sneak in one final "girls night out".  I told her that evening, as i have many times before, how much her friendship meant to me and how much I admired her for her independence and her quest for living. She loved her family and often shared stories about them, pride always present in her voice. The loss of her niece a few years ago and the more recent loss of her sister took a toll on her but she remembered them both with love.  She always looked forward to family visits especially when it involved seeing family members who lived out of province or her sister in Phoenix.  She always looked forward to face-timing with her family in Australia during the Xmas holidays. Those were very special. 

I told her that i wanted to live a full life like she had as i grew older and teased her that she lived a richer, more active life, than I.  Her participation in/ with several business groups, a widows dinner club, her church events, her golfing season, her bridge club,  family events, outings with other friends,  and most recently her virtual Zoom meetings required that i not take her availability to hang out with me for granted!  She was  intelligent and yet so humble.  She was wise but not complicated and so easy to be with. She was adventurous and said "yes" to invitations as often as she could. She had a joie de vivre.  I miss her so much already.  Rest in peace my friend. 

My condolences to Darlene's family - I just loved Darlene's laugh and her positive attitude.  I will remember Darlene for many years and always with a smile.
