Clarence Louis Reimer was born on January 17, 1924 in Giroux, Manitoba, to Jacob and Margaret Reimer. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Ronald of Oregon, sister Marie of Oregon and brother Walter of Steinbach. At age 3, Clarence and his parents moved to Saskatoon - a special place in Clarence’s heart all his life. At about age 10, because of a fire that destroyed his parents’ place of business, they had to move back to Steinbach. There, Clarence met Madeline Sobering as they were both singing in the church choir and their romance blossomed.
In 1945, Clarence joined the Merchant Marines to transport horses by ship to Yugoslavia for the United Nations Relief Organization. Returning home, he became engaged to Madeline. In 1946 before their marriage, they attended 2 semesters at Grace Bible College in Omaha Nebraska. They were married on June 12, 1947 in the Free Church in Steinbach. They returned to Omaha for another semester at Grace. After their return to Steinbach, Gary was born. Having a desire to work in Christian ministry, in 1950 Clarence joined Back to the Bible Broadcast in Lincoln Nebraska, where Murray was born.
When Back to the Bible wanted to establish a Canadian presence, they moved to Winnipeg to launch a Canadian office. Not long after, Brian came along.
In 1959 C Reimer Advertising was established as a Canadian agency to purchase time for gospel radio programs across Canada. Clarence spent many months driving across Canada visiting radio stations. Over time, the agency expanded, bringing radio ministry to Australia.
In the spring of 1975, while shoveling snow at the cottage, Clarence suffered his first heart attack. This was followed by two bypass surgeries and gradual deteriorating health. In spite of all these health problems he lived to the age of 95.
Clarence enjoyed summers at the cottage, endless games of Skipbo with grandkids and fishing for pickerel. He loved bird watching and bird feeding. The Lord allowed him the joy of travelling by motor home with Madeline and sometimes family.
He will be missed by his family: his wife Madeline; sons Gary ( Mary), Murray (Cindy) and Brian (Lynn); grandchildren, Heidi (John), Nathan (Toni), Benjamin (Jennifer), Jocelyn (Steve), Carolyn (Daniel), Stephen, David (Winnie), Joanna (Brendan); and great grandchildren Ella, Sophie, Sean, Aaron and Freya.
A marriage has ended but a family remains.
