March 28, 1925 – January 26, 2015
Rosita Aranda Terrones, 89, passed away peacefully at her home in National City, CA, surrounded by her family on the evening of Monday, January 26th 2015. She was born on March 28, 1925 to Trinidad Aranda and Aleja Sanchez-Vega in Guadalupe, CA. Affectionately known as “Pita” by her grandchildren, Rosa grew up in Chinampas Jalisco, Mexico where she married Alberto Terrones in 1945. In her early life she was an agricultural worker and eventually retired to be a full-time homemaker. Rosita was an opinionated, hard-working woman who enjoyed gardening, family gatherings at her house, and basking in the sunlight on her front patio. Caring for others and giving help to those in need while expecting nothing in return, was the cornerstone of her life. Rosita was devoted in her faith and prayed the rosary every evening with her best friend and neighbor of 60 years, Rosa Cervantes and Lucina Munoz, always keeping the well being of her family in mind.
The evening Rosita returned to her heavenly home her daughters Rachel Godoy and Anita Terrones, and her grandchildren Jessica Lopez-Mendoza and Daniel Garcia were at her bedside. During her last phase of life, she had family member Martha Martinez, from Ojuelos, Mexico, taking care of her at all hours of the day.
Rosita was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Alberto Terrones, who passed away in 2013, her son Albert II who passed away in 2008, and Juanita, Benjamin, and Rene, whom died in infancy. Survivors include her daughters Rachel, Arcelia, Anita, Jacqueline, and sons David and Benjamin, along with 30 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren.
She will be missed greatly by all of the many lives she touched.
Memorial services will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Berge-Roberts in National City on February 11th from 5-9pm. A memorial mass will be celebrated at Saint Anthony’s Catholic Church in National City on February 12th at 10am. She will be laid to rest following the church services at Holy Cross Cemetery 4470 Hilltop Drive in San Diego.
