Jesus N. (Chuey) Gonzales born in National City (OTNC) December 25, 1927 passed November 21, 2017. Preceded in death by his wife Hortensia, son David Gonzales. Survived by daughter Evelyn Diaz of El Cajon, son Raul Gonzales of National City, daughter in law Linda Gonzales of Paradise Hills. Veteran of the U.S. Navy. Retired from North Island, worked part time for National City School District. Preceded in death by his siblings, Leopoldo (Condo), Isaac, Mary, and Timo. Surviving siblings Pauline Castillo, Rosalie Alvarado (Albert) Henry (KiKi) of Las Vegas, Manuel (Mica), Ramona, Vikki Mendoza. He leaves 4 grandchildren, Angela O’Brien, Michelle Stephenson (Jim), Armando Diaz, Robert Gonzales (Andi). Also g 7 great-grandchildren, Brien and Jackson Piske, Cash, Cruz, Cabo, Cayden Gonzales, David Gonzales and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Most of all his dog Bandit. Our dad left all of us with good memories, his sense of humor always caught us off guard. His love of sports, Padre games, Charger games (at the old Balboa Stadium), Hockey games, fishing and our big family grunion hunting bonfires, his great grandsons’ sports events. Dad was well known for walking. Never drove until his late 40’s. Everyone would see him walking down National, Highland and 8th St. There is so much more, but his Christmas birthday was his day. Family, his Tres Leches cake, most of all his Mexican mistletoe, which was a dried red chili hanging from a string. This was my dad, humble, proud and loved family gatherings.
