Edgardo Nave, also lovingly known as Tatay, took his final breath on May 26th 2023 at the age
of 90. Tatay was born in Manila, Philippines on August 14, 1932 to his mother, Juana DeGuzman
Nave. Whilst living in the Philippines, he met Luz Pastrana and they married. In 1981, he
migrated to the United States alongside his wife, followed by his children. Tatay worked hard to
provide for his family and worked as a Forklift Operator for 40 years.
Tatay loved music and was known for his animated dancing and his robust singing voice. He
loved dancing to Elvis Presley and singing along to Frank Sinatra. At every family gathering, he
was always requested to sing, and each time without fail, he chose to sing “My Way” by Frank
Sinatra. Tatay was also a skilled mechanic and loved to fix cars and ride his motorcycle.
He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, known for his humor, his laugh and
his infectious smile. He embodied strength and courage and despite every battle he faced, he
persevered. He is admired by his children and grandchildren and serves as an inspiration to us
all. Memories of him will forever be cherished. He will be loved and missed dearly.
Tatay was preceded in death by his parents. Tatay is survived by his wife of over 70 years, Luz
Nave, his younger sister, Leticia Nave, his nine children; Alfred Nave (Pebie), Edgardo Nave Jr.
(Rebecca), Ricardo Nave (Cynthia), Sophia Flores (Will), Rosendo Nave (Rowena), Vivian
Lorenzana (Jaime), Natassia Serrano (Francis), Michael Nave, and Patricia Liwag (Alejandro),
his 25 grandchildren, and his 14 great-grandchildren.
He will leave a legacy marked by strength, courage, compassion, and love. His life will be
remembered fondly by those who were blessed to have been known by him and loved by him.
