Mr. Watts was born in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, the son of the late William E. Watts Sr and Lloyd Edith Wilson Watts. In his early adulthood, he enjoyed racing boats in competition as well as water skiing. He had several accomplishments in life; He was a Pioneer in fiber optics, inventor of the Watts Bridge and teleconferencing, and covered the communications for the Geneva Peace Talks, just to name a few. His hobbies included anything from working in the garage with electronics or on cars, to drinking coffee, to watching and taping thunderstorms. He was notorious for being able to mimic the Woodie the Woodpecker laugh. He proudly served our country in World War II in the United States Army.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings and one granddaughter, Kristen “Michelle” Wiggs.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Watts; four daughters, Sarah “Sally” Jarrett, Cynthia “Cindy” Ann Woodlee, E. Lynn Cirilo and Pamela Joy Guertin; twelve grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 30, 2015, from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening at Mount Olivet Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Life Service will be on Thursday, December 31, 2015, at two o’clock in the afternoon at Mount Olivet Funeral Home.
Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
