Bill was preceded in death by his parents William Paul and Mary Kathryn Creech Tramel, and his wife Elizabeth (Lib) Hunt Taylor Tramel who passed away in 2007 after 14 ½ years of marriage. Bill leaves behind his brother Robert James (Bob) Tramel of Signal Mountain, TN; sister-in-law Carol Suzanne Taylor Camelo and husband Carl of Quincy, MA; and nephews James Harold Warren Nickerson of Wareham, MA and Grant Hunt Collins Nickerson and wife Lauren of Pembroke, MA.
Bill was born on June 12, 1953 in Nashville, TN. He was an Eagle Scout, graduated from Two Rivers High School in 1971, and was a member of the Lebanon Road Church of Christ. He graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1975 with a double major in Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science. As he was also enrolled in the Navy ROTC program, at that time he was commissioned an Ensign in the US Navy. He was a Plank Owner of the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69). In 1981 he received a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering degree from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA. He retired from the Navy as a Lieutenant Commander in 1994, having received multiple Navy Commendation Medals, DOD Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy “E” Ribbon, and the National Defense Service Medal. In 1999 he and Lib moved to Fort White, Florida where he continued to work as a consultant for BAE Systems, raised goats on their farm, and cared for rescue basset hounds.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Fund.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00am on Monday, November 29, 2021 at the Hibbett & Hailey Funeral Home, 429 Donelson Pike, Nashville, TN 37214; with the funeral service to follow at 11:00am with J.D. Buckner officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
A visitation for William will be held Monday, November 29, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Hibbett & Hailey Funeral Home, 429 Donelson Pike, Nashville, TN 37214. A funeral service will occur Monday, November 29, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM, 429 Donelson Pike, Nashville, TN 37214. A graveside service will occur Monday, November 29, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204.
William will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Lane, Nashville, TN 37204.
