William Gordon Simpson, age 87, passed away on November 13, 2016. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Elaine O’Brien Simpson. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he is survived by his daughter, Gina (Jim) Griffith, son, Greg (Mary) Simpson; grandchildren, Kevin (Lindsey) Griffith, Brian (Ashley) Griffith, Grant Simpson, Austin Simpson, Jonathan Griffith, Kyle Simpson; and great-grandchildren, Madelyn Griffith and Michael Griffith.
Born and raised in Floral Park, New York, he attended St. John’s University until he was drafted into the Army during the Korean War, where he served his country honorably as an artillery officer. After the war, he spent thirty years in the sales industry before obtaining his Real Estate Broker’s license. In retirement, Gordon could be found enjoying time with his family or at the golf course, where he carded his first and only hole-in-one at age 85. During his forty years in Nashville, he was actively involved with St. Henry Catholic Church as a parishioner, volunteer and more recently, as a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a man of indomitable faith, honor and integrity.
Visitation with the family will be on Monday, November 21, 2016, from 9-11 a.m. at St. Henry Catholic Church, with a Funeral Mass immediately following.
