William Thomas "Bill" Hemphill, Jr. age 74, was born on November 16, 1945 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late, William Thomas and Beatrice Chapman Hemphill, Sr. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Carol "Pam" Hemphill and brother, Robert "Bob" Hemphill.
Bill was the owner of American Drywall Company for over 30 years. He was always the man behind the camera for family functions. He was a skilled craftsman. Bill will always be remembered for his kindness and generosity towards his family and friends.
Bill is survived by son, and daughter-in-law, Chris and Kristina Hemphill; grandchildren, Megan McDowell, Michael McDowell, Bethany Hemphill, Noah Hemphill and Saxon Schulz; one great-granddaughter, Willow; sisters, Betty Hemphill, Barbara Chester and Linda Coats; nieces, Jennifer (Fritz) Nott, Tracy (Michael) Diaz and Laurie (Oscar) Clavijo and nephew, Michael Chester.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held to remember and honor Bill's life at two thirty in the afternoon on Friday, October 23, 2020 in Lindsley Hall of Mount Olivet Funeral Home with Bro. Judd Hayes officiating. Interment will follow at the Historic Mount Olivet Cemetery with Chris Hemphill, Michael McDowell, David McDowell, Noah Hemphill, Saxon Schulz and Guillermo Andrade to serve as Pallbearers.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from three until seven o'clock in the evening on Thursday, October 22, 2020.
Following the service the family invites you to attend a reception in honor of Bill in the Ann D. Dudley Suite at Mount Olivet Funeral Home.
