Mr. William Dale Dietrich of Nashville, TN, passed away July 14, 2016 after a courageous fight against cancer. He was born January 21, 1936 to John Dietrich and Mary Stenger. His parents preceded him in death as did his brothers Norman and Dennis Dietrich.
William grew up a farmer in Tuscola, IL to become the first member of his family to attend college, receiving a Bachelor's of Engineering from the University of Illinois. While attending college, he was an active member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity and the Illinois National Guard. He moved his young family to Nashville in 1974 where he built a full life and will be remembered for his love of family, friends, sense of humor, community, and country. After retirement from a corporate position, he became a tireless volunteer for United Cerebral Palsy.
He is preceded in death by his second wife, Diane Dietrich. He is survived
by his first wife, Mary Sue Dietrich; their daughters, Kristin Dietrich of Nashville and Catherine Dietrich D'Antonio (Marc) and grandchildren Kate and Jack all of Columbus, GA; stepson Jeff Woody (Denise) and step grandchildren, Emily and Ellie all of Atlanta, GA; and stepson Jason Woody of Nashville.
The family will receive friends and family at Mt. Olivet Funeral Home on Monday July 18th from 5:00-7:00pm and on Tuesday July 19th from 10:00-11:00am. A life Celebration will begin at 11:00am in the Chapel at Mt. Olivet Funeral Home, burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Dietrich’s name to United Cerebral Palsy at ucp.org.
