ROGERS, Walter Eugene (Gene), age 83, passed away after a brief illness on January 31, 2012. He was born on February 29, 1928 to the late C. W. Rogers and Louise (Fowler) Rogers. He is survived by his loving wife of 65+ years, Alice (Martin) Rogers; Children, Sharon (Jim) Work, Martin (Nancy) Rogers, Carol Malone, Don Rogers; six grandchildren, Laura (Chris) Chambers, Rachel (Brian) Shore, Walter(Amanda) Malone, Zane Malone, Hannah Malone and Catherine (Matt) Martin; two great-grandchildren, Benjamin Shore and Maggie Malone; brother, Thomas (Jean) Rogers; nephews, Thomas Rogers, Jr., Terry Rogers, Garry Rogers and Barry Rogers, stepmother, Mary Rogers. Gene grew up in Nashville and attended Sylvan Park, Wade and Cumberland High School. After graduation, he began to work in auto upholstery. He spent 65 years as an upholsterer and enjoyed his business “Roger’s Seat Cover Co.” Gene was a member of Scottsboro United Methodist Church. Pallbearers will be his nephews. Donations may be made to the Scottsboro United Methodist Church in lieu of flowers. Funeral Services will be held, 2:30 p.m. Friday, February 3, 2012 in Woodlawn’s Dignity Hall, Dr. Fred Johnson ( former Scottsboro Minister) & Rev. Joy Edwards (Current Minister) will Officiate, with Interment to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2012 and from 12:00 noon until time of services on Friday, February 3, 2012, atWoodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home and Memorial Park, Nashville, TN.
