Mr. Walter John Bentley, Jr. age 96, of Nashville, died on Friday, July 27, 2018. John grew up in IL and CA and lived on the family farm in Bement, IL. He was a graduate of Duke University where he was a member of the ATO fraternity. He served as an officer in the US Navy during WWII. A long time Nashville resident, he retired from Courier Printing. John never met a beer he didn’t like, loved to tell stories, and spend time with his family and friends. He was proceeded in death by his wife Carolyn and his daughter Jean. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Walt and Georgia Bentley of Atlanta, GA, son-in-law Scot Cherry of Nashville, grandsons Walter John Bentley IV of Atlanta and Patrick Cherry, his wife Olesya and daughter Nicole of Nashville. A memorial service at will be held on at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 2nd at Second Presbyterian Church, where he was a member for over fifty years. John was well loved by all and will be sorely missed.
