Wade H. Elam, age 83, of Hendersonville, Tennessee passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 18, 2022. He was born on September 22, 1939, to the late Adele and Nelson Elam. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Ms. Gayle Smith.
Wade married Jane Hooten, in 1997 and they lived a wonderful life in Hendersonville, TN. He was also a dedicated and faithful father of Lee Kelly and Wade Elam, Jr. (Lori), both of Nashville. Grandchildren Ben and John. Each grandchild knew him as “Papa.”
Wade attended Montgomery Bell Academy and Vanderbilt University, where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. Wade was a tireless provider for his family. He owned and operated White Way Cleaners until 1999, when he sold and developed the property into the current Edgehill Village. Wade was a founding member and a Past President of the TN Fabricare Association. He was a Board Member, Past President, and Chairman of the Board of the IFI (International Fabricare Institute).
Wade was a member of Varsity, a peer group recognized as the twenty-best dry cleaners in the world. Wade was the youngest member to become an Eagle Scout during his membership. Perhaps most commonly known as an avid hunter, Wade made many lifelong and important friendships in the duck blinds of Delaplaine, AR.
A Gathering of Family and Friends, for Wade, will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2022, from ten o'clock in the morning until two o'clock in the afternoon at Mount Olivet Funeral Home, 1101 Lebanon Pike, Nashville, Tennessee 37210.
A Graveside Service will immediately follow at two o'clock in the afternoon Mt Olivet Cemetery, 1101 Lebanon Pike, Nashville, Tennessee 37210.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Delaplaine on 1/8/2023 at the Refuge beginning at 12:00 PM.
