Vonceil Jordan Greene, devoted and beloved wife, mother and grandmother, age 95, passed away on March 2, 2014, at The Blakeford in Nashville, Tennessee. She was married to Dr. W.O. Greene Jr., a long time Nashville veterinarian. At the time of his death in 1978, they had been married 37 years. Mrs. Greene was the daughter of the late O.E. and Ida Jordan of Brewton, Alabama. She was a graduate T.R. Miller High School where she was salutatorian of her class and attended Huntington College in Montgomery, Alabama. She and her husband W.O. moved to Nashville in 1940 where Dr. Greene went to work at the Bohannon Animal Clinic on Hillsboro Road, later to become Greene Animal Hospital. She was a member of the Bonne Terre Garden Club, the Nashville Embroidery Guild, Cheekwood Botanical Gardens and West End Methodist Church. She was very accomplished in all disciplines of needlework especially embroidery and cruel. She received numerous honors and awards and was featured on HG TV. She took great pleasure in loving and nurturing her four sons and daughter in every activity they participated in. She attended every baseball, football, and dance recital to provide support and love to all her family. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Cliff Jordan and Marcus Jordan, and one sister Cleo Ansley. She is survived by two sisters, Odell Holly of Raleigh ,NC and Betty Jean Golemon of Houston, TX; children, Dr. W. O. Greene III (Catherine) of Nashville, Sulee Moores (Ted) of Nashville, Michael Lewis Greene (Betty) of Tullahoma, Nathaniel Jordan Greene (Kim) of Nashville, and Samuel Cunningham Greene (Donna) of Nashville, ten grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren. The family is especially grateful to the staff at The Blakeford for the loving care afforded Mrs. Greene the past eighteen months. Her funeral service will be held at West End Methodist Church located at 2200 West End Avenue on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at one o’clock in the afternoon with visitation starting at eleven-thirty in the morning at the church. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the West End Methodist Church.
